In partnership with Servelec HSC, St Vincent’s University Hospital Dublin has been awarded IT Professional Team of the Year at the national Tech Excellence Awards 2017 hosted in Dublin, based on the Whiteboard Patient Journey project at St Vincent’s University Hospital.

The Tech Excellence Awards recognises the stars of the technology business and is Ireland’s principal badge of honour in the IT industry. Working closely with Servelec, the team at St Vincent’s University Hospital developed a bed management and ‘productive ward’ combined system to replace the physical whiteboards with intelligent touch screen technology, allowing staff to update patient data with clinical icons that provides ‘patient status at a glance’.

Excellence in patient care is embedded in the core values of the Whiteboard Patient Journey solution at St Vincent’s University Hospital. The system also integrates with the Emergency Department clinical system and patient administration system in order to streamline processes, maximise bed stock and gain greater visibility on emergency department patients requiring an inpatient bed.

Lloyd Felton, Director of ICT Projects at St Vincent’s University Hospital, said:

“St Vincent’s University Hospital are immensely proud of the Whiteboard Patient Journey project. This project was a change management project that resulted in a transformation in the way that we manage patient flow within our hospital – from the point of admission to the point of discharge of our patients. It has also helped to reduce the average length of stay for our patients.”

Alan Stubbs, CEO at Servelec HSC, said:

“We are extremely proud that the Whiteboard Patient Journey project, in partnership with our customer, St Vincent’s University Hospital Dublin, has been awarded IT Professional Team of the Year at the Tech Excellence Awards 2017 in Ireland. Servelec’s patient flow bed management solution, Flow, helps to improve the quality of service to patients and enhance patient safety. This has been a great team effort and we would like to congratulate everyone involved in the project that led to the achievement of the award.”

The Tech Excellence Awards were presented at a Gala Dinner on 18 May 2017 with more than 600 people from 800 companies across Ireland attend and celebrate the continued strides made by the technology sector and its growing importance to the economy.
